DaCross's Clinical ServicesDaCross ServicesDaCross Services, the veterinary dental consultancy run by David Crossley provides a clinical referral and radiograph reading service to veterinary colleagues requiring assistance with cases involving veterinary dental and orofacial surgical conditions.
DaCross Services also provides a range of nonclinical services.
Referrals
The referral service only handles cases referred by other veterinary
surgeons. Consultations cannot be arranged and animals will not be
seen until the case has been referred and appropriate
medical details supplied by the animal's normal veterinary surgeon.
If you have an animal you suspect
of having a dental or related problem please take it to your normal
veterinary surgeon in the first instance
(also see below).
If you or your vet then
consider that referral is required your vet just needs
to contact us or one of the clinics at which we see cases.
Dental and Orofacial Surgery Referral ClinicReferrals must be arranged by your normal veterinary surgeon. Clinics are held at:
Radiology Service
DaCross services offers an oro-facial radiograph interpretation service
in conjunction with its referral service. Non-urgernt radiographs may be
sent to any of the above clinic, however, in urgent cases it is advisable
to contact us
first to check where to send the films to ensure a prompt response.
Advice for ownersThe place to start if you suspect your animal has any medical problem is your normal veterinary surgeon. Do not be afraid of explaining your concerns, but be prepared for the need to investigate any problem that is found. In some cases problems are be simple to identify and treat, however, blood tests, x-rays, examination under a general anaesthetic, biopsy etc. will be necessary. Treatment may sometimes be performed at the same time as investigations, or it have to be delayed whilst waiting for test results or referral to a specialist. In most dental and orofacial surgery cases, additional oral hygiene measures will be required over and above the routine daily tooth brushing required by pet cats and dogs (and by people) during the healing period. Routine oral hygiene measures are essential to control periodontal disease and prevent this insidious infectious condition causing chronic damage to vital internal organs as well as the tooth support structures.
Information on some common dental and other oral problems (identification,
prevention and treatment) is available from the links page.
